“Alma e Coração” (“Soul and Heart”) is the official theme song for Rio 2016, the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). The song was recorded by Brazilian samba super star Thiaguinho together with the rapper Projota.
Can you hear the Olympic spirit in this mix of samba and rap? You can certainly see it in the song’s music video, which features four young athletes (Antonio, Eva, Rayssa and Felipe) perfoming at their best – from swimming to boxing!
The song’s lyrics are all about values that matter in sports – such as perseverance and effort.
It starts like this:
“I know what I want in this life, and nothing comes easy, brother
Without sweat what we can accomplish comes to nothing
It’s always time to make something better happen
And your time will come.”
