Anna Faris and Chris Pratt are arguably one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples. They’re both beautiful, of course, but they also just seem so damn happy. Our generation throws around the phrase “#RelationshipGoals” frequently, but Faris and Pratt are the true definition of that hashtag. Don’t believe us? Here’s proof.
But even the happiest couples go through rough patches, and Faris and Pratt are no exception. Last year, they were victims of several tabloid rumors that claimed Pratt was cheating. Most celebrities dismiss these stories as nothing but ridiculous drivel, but Faris revealed that they actually bothered her.
The actress recently sat down with Isla Fisher for her podcast, Anna Faris Is Unqualified, and revealed that these rumors weren’t easy to shake. Specifically, she said they made her feel “incredibly, very insecure.”
“I just remember feeling so hurt in a way that bothered me because I didn’t want to think of myself as somebody who could be bothered by … tabloid shit,” Faris revealed.
She later added, “I think it was a combination of things. I take pride in how great my relationship is with Chris, but having said that, of course, in this crazy world where he’s off doing movies and I’m in L.A. raising our child, of course I’m going to feel vulnerable, like any normal human would.”
This level of honesty is incredibly refreshing. I have a difficult time believing that celebrities are completely unaffected by tabloid rumors. Even if you’re a seasoned A-lister, it can’t be easy seeing straight-up lies printed about you on newsstands in grocery stores—especially when those lies turn sinister. This is why Jennifer Aniston wrote that Huffington Post essay condemning the tabloid industry: She is fed up with the bullshit. So is Anna Faris—and so are plenty of celebrities, but they’re probably too embarrassed to admit this nonsense affects them. We’re human. It’s perfectly valid to have a strong response to someone damaging your name. I certainly would—and you would, too.
