Chef creates 400-pound gingerbread replica of Wrigley Field

An Illinois country club chef paid tribute to the World Series champion Chicago Cubs with a 400-pound gingerbread replica of Wrigley Field.

Gerald Madero, chef at the Forest Hills County Club in Rockford, said he turned to the Cubs for inspiration when brainstorming ideas for the club’s annual holiday brunch gingerbread centerpiece.
“Everybody here, we’re all Cubs fans, so, you know being that the Cubs won the World Series, we just thought it was right to make Wrigley Field,” Madero told WREX-TV.

He said it took his team of chefs more than 70 hours to create the Wrigley replica, which features seats made from crackers, gelatin windows and a scoreboard made from edible paper. The only non-edible components, the players, are made from Lego bricks.

Wrigley Field is a baseball park located on the North Side of Chicago, Illinois. It is the home of the Chicago Cubs, one of the city’s two Major League Baseball (MLB) franchises.
