Jennifer Lawrence has opened up about her friendship with Emma Stone. The actress also admitted that she was once intimidated by the “La La Land” actress.
Jennifer Lawrence has a lot of friends — Amy Schumer, Bradley Cooper, Adele, Liam Hemsworth, etc. But in the December issue of Vanity Fair, J. Law is talking about what makes her friendship with Emma Stone so special.
It all started with Woody Harrelson and a text message. “She texted me that she got my number from Woody,” Jennifer told VF. “I replied, ‘F*ck off!’ And we’ve been really good friends ever since.” Yup, sounds precisely like the Jennifer we’ve come to know so well. The Oscar winner then went on to say, “I feel like it was our version of The Notebook — 365 texts,” referring to the year that the two spent sending daily text messages to one another. Sounds like a love story to us, TBH.
She added that their friendship benefits from being able to swap stories about their line of work. “I love my job…I don’t know what I would be without acting,” Jennifer said. “So if there is someone who loves the same thing, it should bring us closer. But it depends on how that person is, and Emma is so normal and lovely.”
But possibly one of the coolest aspects of Emma and Jenn’s friendship is that they don’t compete with each other. Emma admitted that “there was definitely a time early on when I was like ‘OH HEY MY EGO IS GOING NUTS SHE’S SO GREAT AND VIBRANT AND TALENTED I’M SCREWED I’LL NEVER WORK AGAIN GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD.’” But luckily the actress was able to rethink things. She explained, “Then I chilled the f*ck out — and remembered we’re completely different and there is room for everyone, even if it’s an industry that doesn’t really seem to support that idea up front.” She added, “We both really do love each other and care about each other as people, beyond being actors, I support her completely when it comes to work and I feel the same from her, but I know we’d be friends even if we didn’t do the same job.”
