Miley Ray Cyrus (born Destiny Hope Cyrus; November 23, 1992) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. Born and raised in Franklin, Tennessee, she held minor roles in the television series Doc and the film Big Fish in her childhood. Cyrus became a teen idol for her portrayal of the starring character Miley Stewart in the Disney Channel television series Hannah Montana in 2006; her father Billy Ray Cyrus additionally starred in the show. Cyrus subsequently signed a recording contract with Hollywood Records; her debut studio album Meet Miley Cyrus (2007) was certified triple-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for exceeding three million shipments. Cyrus released her second album Breakout and launched her film career as a voice actress in the animated film Bolt in 2008.
The release of her fifth studio album, Cyrus resumed working on her upcoming sixth studio album. She was a key advisor during the tenth season of the reality singing competition The Voice. In March 2016, it was confirmed after months of speculation that Cyrus had rekindled her relationship with Liam Hemsworth. That same month, it was confirmed that Cyrus had signed on as a judge for the eleventh season of The Voice as a replacement for Gwen Stefani; Cyrus is the youngest judge to appear on any incarnation of the series.
In September 2016, Cyrus became a co-star in Crisis in Six Scenes, a television series Woody Allen created for Amazon Studios. She plays the part of a radical-thinking hippie who sells marijuana, causing chaos in a conservative 1960s household. On September 17, 2016, she appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon where she sang Bob Dylan’s “Baby, I’m In the Mood for You,” a rendition that Fallon called “fantastic.”
On October 27, 2016 Cyrus confirmed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that the ring she is wearing is indeed an engagement ring and that she is engaged to Liam Hemsworth.

He is the ambassador of the Australian Childhood Foundation. Hemsworth talked about his association with the foundation, “I have the best parents you can have. They have worked in child protection for twenty years and have only ever given me encouragement and support. The world is a scary enough place as it is for children. It is important that home should always be a safe place for them.” When asked if he believed he was a hero to children, Liam said he did not know, but that he would like to be a good role model.
Hemsworth is vegan and told Men’s Fitness that he found “no negatives to eating like this. I feel nothing but positive, mentally and physically.” He was named PETA’s Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity of 2016.
