Albus Severus Potter has a new face The cast pictures for JK Rowling’s Harry Potter stage play The Cursed Child have been revealed with the Potter family in full costume laid bare.
Actor Sam Clemmett announced that he had secured the coveted role of the Cursed Child himself, Albus Severus Potter.
He wrote on Twitter: “Thrilled to announce I will be playing Albus Severus Potter in @HPPlayLDN :D”
Actress Poppy Miller was also revealed as Ginny Potter, while there was a first look at Jamie Parker in full Harry costume, complete with scar.
The announcement comes one week before the first preview takes place in London.
The full cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play were recently revealed after rehearsals officially began for the hotly anticipated production.
The stage show – a continuation of the popular novels and movie series – announced the three leads back in December and have now rounded out the whole team.
Jamie Parker playing Harry, Noma Dumezweni as Hermione Granger and Paul Thornley taking the role of Ron Weasley, are joined by a 56-strong team of actors, producers and creatives.
The play is based on an original story by JK Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany and will debut at the Palace Theatre in the heart of London’s theatre district this summer.
The Cursed Child will focus on Harry – now an “overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children” – and his middle child, Albus Severus, who struggles with his family’s legacy as he begins at Hogwarts.
The synopsis reads: “While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted.
“As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.”
