India is hoping to increase its medal tally this year at Rio Olympics as it has sent the maximum number of participants.

The third day of Rio Olympics 2016 will see India participating in a slew of events.

Here’s a look at the Indian athletes who are participating at the Rio Olympics today:

1. Shooting

Men’s 10 metre air rifle shooting: 5:30 pmGagan NarangGagan Narang: He is supported by Olympic gold quest, a non-profit organisation which identifies and supports Indian athletes. He was the first Indian to qualify for the London Olympics.

Abhinav Bindra: India’s flag bearer and individual Olympic gold medallist. His current ranking is 13. After his success at Beijing Olympics he was honoured with India’s third highest civilian award, the Padma Bhushan. This would be his final appearance at the games.

Men’s trap: 6 pm

Manavjit Singh Sandhu Manavjit Singh Sandhu: Former World Champion and World number one Sandhu, in the first qualification round of Rio Olympics missed two targets to bag eighth position.

2. Field Hockey

Men’s tournament group Bindia hocky team India vs Germany: 7:30 pm
India will face the defending champions Germany under the Indian men hockey team captain Sreejesh Parattu Raveendran. India has fallen under group B which includes Germany, Netherlands, Argentina, Ireland and Canada.

Women’s tournament group Bindia hocky team

India vs Great Britain: 2:30 am

India’s women’s hockey team, led by Sushila Chanu, will face the Great Britain at the quadrennial event. The team has qualified for the event after 36 years. They were able to qualify only after playing world class hockey and finishing in the top-five at the 2014-15 Women’s FIH Hockey World League Semi-finals.

3. Swimming

Women’s 200 m freestyle: 9:32 pm

Heat 1Shivani Kataria Shivani Kataria: The 18-year-old is the only woman swimmer from India. She was selected for the esteemed sports event by the Swimming Federation of India (SFI) after no Indian swimmer was able to qualify through the qualifiers.

Men’s 200 m butterfly: 10:04 pm

Heat 1Sajan Prakash Sajan Prakash: The 22-year-old will be debuting at Rio Olympics. In the year 2015, he won six gold and three silver medals at the National Games of India.

4. Archery

Individual Eliminations: 7:27 pm
Laxmirani-Majhi Laxmirani Majhi: Olympic debutant Majhi will take on Slovak Alexandra Longova. She belongs to the Santhal tribe. Her talent for archery was discovered in a government school.
